Mosaics Ubasart is the first company in Spain to purchase a new Bobcat L85 compact wheel loader. Originally formed in 1950 in Moià (Barcelona) as a small manufacturer of mosaic tiles, Mosaics Ubasart today specializes in producing precast architectural concrete and glass reinforced concrete (GRC) panels.

Power, Breakout Force and Stability

In the L85, high performance is assured by the combination of the powerful Bobcat engine and the hydraulics. This is complemented by the high stability, breakout, push and pull forces and a comprehensive selection of attachments, including several Bob-Tach attachments for Bobcat loaders made possible by the installation of a Bob-Tach Adapter. Combined with intuitive controls, high operator comfort and ease of use, the L85 compact wheel loader has great versatility and is ideal for a multitude of tasks in a very wide range of industries.

The L85 is built with proven components including the engine, structures, axles, electronics and hydraulics sourced either from Bobcat or the company’s prestigious Tier 1 suppliers. Many components are already widely used in Bobcat’s market-leading compact loaders, mini-excavators and telehandlers, and the L85 undergoes the same final assembly and test procedures as these products.

The L85 compact wheel loader is ideal for a multitude of applications, but Mosaics Ubasart uses the machine to feed 10 hoppers, with mixtures of 80 different materials, for the manufacture of precast concrete. The process carried out by the L85 is essential to ensure that the raw material for the manufacture of precast concrete is available every day, and it cannot fail. Without the Bobcat loader performing this task, the factory would be out of supply and inactive. It is estimated that the L85 moves around 2000 tonne of material every year.

Compact Size with High Performance

The Bobcat L85 has replaced a wheel loader from another brand and met the company’s need for a more modern machine. “We chose this model for its dimensions and its features. For its agility, speed and comfort among other characteristics,” said Bertomeu Ubasart, manager and owner of Mosaics Ubasart.

“The L85 provides us with very good visibility from inside the cab to all points of the machine; it is very fast for carrying out the tasks of collecting and unloading material in the hoppers, which allows us to save considerable time in our daily work. The excellent visibility also increases safety in the work environment, and the hydraulic quick coupler allows us to change attachments without getting out of the machine, which also enhances operator comfort."

The L85 is equipped as standard with the Power Quick-Tach system compatible with widely used industry standard couplers. To run high-flow attachments, the L85 can be fitted with a high flow option, providing a hydraulic flow of 100 l/min.

Another unique feature of the L85 is the Advanced Attachment Control. This revolutionary system enables the operator to switch to an alternative machine control pattern at the touch of a button. This offers independent control of the engine speed (and maximum auxiliary flow) and the machine travel speed. Thanks to the 7-pin connector, the operator can control even the most complicated attachments intuitively and effectively.

Bertomeu Ubasart further commented that the locations of all the mechanical components, the motor, the pumps and so on are very accessible, which ensures maintenance of the machine is very easy to carry out. The L85 also has an exterior design that is out of the ordinary, with excellent finishes.

Designed around the operator, the cab on the L85 provides high comfort and easy operation, ensuring the operator can work for as long they want. Seat and hand controls can be easily adjusted to fit the operator’s needs. The joystick’s position is adjustable horizontally and integrated in the operator’s suspension seat to assure the best operation experience and comfort. The steering column is also adjustable in two directions – horizontal and vertical – a feature unique in the CWL industry. The cab is fully enclosed and pressurized, meeting the strictest FOPS II safety requirements.
