The contractor converting the former Kmart building at 1320 E. 30th St. in Hutchinson into an Atwoods Ranch and Home store reported a piece of heavy equipment stolen from the job site.

Kyle Eller, with Rabb Construction, told Hutchinson police Wednesday afternoon that a John Deere mini-excavator and several attachments, including backhoe buckets, disappeared from the parking lot sometime during the past two weeks.

It was unclear when the equipment disappeared, but Eller reported it was last used at the end of June, said Hutchinson Police Lt. Dustin Loepp.

The equipment was valued at about $50,000, the report stated.
