With 3 Times Legal Limit, Gurnee Woman Crashes Into Excavator: Blotter | Lake Forest, IL Patch

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police and Lake County court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Isaias Curiel-Barraza, 28, of the 600 block of South LaSalle Street, Aurora, was arrested on June 15 and charged with three counts of attempted vehicular hijacking following incidents in Aurora, Lake Forest and Waukegan. Michael Mucerino, 25, of the 500 block of King Muir Road, Lake Forest, was arrested around 7 p.m. on June 20 following a traffic stop near the intersection of King Muir Road and Burton Drive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police reported he smelled of alcohol, admitted to drinking prior to getting behind the wheel and attributed his poor driving to the fact he had been using his phone while driving — an offense for which he was also cited, along with driving an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.

Roberto Ayala, 33, of the 3300 block of North Oakley Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 7:45 a.m. on June 23 in the 700 block of Westleigh Road on an active Cook County arrest warrant after officers were dispatched to a well-being check of a person on the ground near Woodlands Academy and the bike path.

Patrick L. Smith, 23, of the 1200 block of Cascade Court, Lake Forest, was arrested around 2 a.m. on July 2 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Deerpath and Sheridan roads. Officers noticed a black BMW driving erratically in a manner consisted with a drunken driver and reported that Smith, during the traffic stop, explained that he had approximately a half-dozen beers before driving. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Alfred Holt, 74, of the 4100 block of Bertrand Lane, Beach Park, was arrested around 4 a.m. on July 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after an officer on route patrol encountered a white Nissan SUV that had seemingly crashed on Route 60 at Field Drive. The officer reported that Holt appeared to be asleep behind the wheel of the crashed car sitting in the road and told police he had had a "couple of drinks" before driving. He later provided a breath sample indicating a 0.109 BAC. In addition to the two misdemeanor DUI counts, Holt was also cited for driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

Sahaid Nur, 22, of the 3400 block of Arthur Avenue, Milwaukee, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on July 4 after officers were dispatched to a traffic crash at the intersection of Route 41 and Old Elm Road and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis. Officers reported he rear-ended a car stopped at the red light on southbound Route 41 and was found outside of his car acting confused and dazed. He was also issued citations for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

Nada Popovic, 61, of the 4100 block of Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on July 5 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police were called to the scene of a one-car crash at Route 41 and Westleigh Road, where Popovic had crashed into a center median barrier and the rear of an empty construction excavator. The investigating officer reported she appeared to be dazed, confused and unsteady and later denied driving the car or having been involved in the crash. She was also ticketed for improper lane usage. Police reported provided a breath sample indicating her BAC was 0.275, more than three times the legal limit for alcohol intoxication.

Kuldeep K. Sartor, 63, of the 200 block of Alpine Springs Drive, Vernon Hills, was arrested around 10:15 p.m. on July 6 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and speeding more than 35 mph over the limit following a traffic stop near Route 60 and Ridge Road. Officers reported she made hysterical and confusing statements about the origin and destination of her drive and admitted having consumed "two Margaritas" prior to getting behind the wheel. She later provided a sample indicating a breath alcohol concentration of 0.149, nearly twice the legal limit.

Kevin D. Henry, 57, of the 4200 block of Greenleaf Court, Park City, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on July 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers got a call of a black Nissan swerving all over the road while headed north on Route 41. Henry told police he had been drinking beer earlier in the night and later provided a sample indicating a breath alcohol concentration of 0.113.
