State troopers attempting to take a suspect back into custody were forced to retreat after the man's father attacked them by swinging an excavator bucket towards their cruiser.

Police had arrested Brandon Tallman, 24 of Elmore on June 12 after an altercation at a home in Woodbury.

Two days later, on June 14, police attempted to retake Tallman into custody at his parents' home in Hardwick when his father, Wayne Tallman, 52, got behind the controls of an excavator and began swinging the bucket toward the troopers.

In the video, troopers can be seen wrestling with Brandon Tallman and his mother, Amy Tallman, 48, when the bucket of the excavator begins swinging toward their vehicle.

Troopers were able to successfully get Wayne Tallman out of the excavator and arrested him for aggravated assault on a protected official, resisting arrest, impeding and reckless endangerment.

Amy Tallman was also issued a citation for impeding an officer.
